Product Review

-- Product Review --

Rick Shiu (of InQuest Communications LLC) and I first discussed a review project for Acupress in early August, it was shipped to us here in southern Canada (Kootenay Region of BC) around August 17th and it arrived on August 28th from Chino California (USA) in a small cardboard box that easily fit in our mailbox. The items were cushioned with brown paper packing inside – very eco-friendly, reusable and recyclable. When Dave came back to the office he spotted the product and literally tried it out right away as his neck was bothering him.

The Acupress product is made from natural and herb based ingredients within the US. The bottle design and application top makes this easy to use. Learning about different acupressure points is a lot of fun, and we discovered that they are quite effective. Acupress is a product that competes with pain and muscle creams, but stands out from the crowd because it is a liquid that dries quickly and is more effective than most of the other creams Dave or I have tried on the market. This pain relief topical formula utilizes traditional acupuncture and acupressure points and comes with a 48-page guidebook to teach you how to find the appropriate points associated to your area of pain. Both the booklet and the bottle are, interestingly, quite a convenient size for taking along when traveling, camping, or on a work site.

Within the first few minutes of application we both experienced a slightly cooling, soothing sensation and within 5 minutes this turned to a deeper warmth… stimulating the circulation system for that area, which reduces swelling and ensures proper nutrients and toxins are being transported properly. Dave especially likes using this product on his knees (both of which have had arthroscopic surgery) and his arthritic neck. For myself, I tried using it on all my previously injured areas (from a car accident 15 years ago: elbow, knee, hip, neck, shoulder) – the chronic aches and pains and headaches has made life difficult and limited my ability to spend long hours in the office or garden work. I found that Acupress was most effective for knee and hip aches and pains, and really effective against headaches, which I get a lot of.  It also eased the pain in my shoulder, but didn’t eliminate it. Pain was relieved almost immediately, however we found that reapplication every hour or so is necessary for strong pain issues. I am so pleased to have a decreased need for prescription medication!

Interestingly there is no staining involved with this product, unlike other pain relieving creams. It is non-greasy, and the liquid takes less than 10 minutes to dry. There wasn’t any strong lingering odor associated with this product, although it has a slight rubbing alcohol scent upon application.

We found that gentle application is best as it is a liquid coming out of the applicator sponge top, and if you press too hard a drip can form. Instead of aggressive application, go back and repeat a 2nd application to the pressure points indicated in the guidebook.

Acupress offers a good value as so little of the product is used for each application, the 4 oz bottle, a $19.95 value (US) will last a long time. The company is currently running a "Free Shipping" bonus (within the US) on their website (normally it's $3.95): www.acupress.com  You might find the US toll-free number useful: 866-232-1846 where anyone in Canada or the US could order directly from a customer service agent.
